creating a mould
ok, now let us start this blog with a new project.
I had picked up some silicone RTV 181 at Esprit Composite in Paris last february and decided to give it a try.
I made my last moulds in the US years ago using 1 to 1 silicone from Oomoo but could not find a similar product in France.
RTV 181 comes wth a catalyst that has to be aded by weight (2 to 5%). Of course I have no scale for small quantities like that so I measure by the eye...
The first 2 trials were disasters : not enough catalyst and the moulds would not cure !
The 3rd test was OK even if I added too much catalyst resulting in ultra fast curing trapping in too many bubbles.
