A harsh punishment Posted by Hello
OK now this one's hard to explain : what is it with me and with all these execution/punishment minis ? It has to be some dark secret hidden deep in my subconscious..
Anyway, I bought a few naughty figures from Excalibur last year and the 2 left figures belong to the same set including the pole. The right figure is of course from Ground Zero Games.

the whole gang.. Posted by Hello
all these figures fit in dungeon, don't you think ?
Still, there is more to come, much more, hehehe

another little demon Posted by Hello
This one's from Ground Zero games; I had a hard time with her eyes; the base that is hidden in this picture is a plaster reproduction of the original (the blister came without a base, GRRR!)

I call him Quasimodo Posted by Hello
This weird fellow came in a blister from some old Grenadier stock bought at least 3 years ago. At that time I awas experimenting with washes; I did just a few touchups and here is the result.

the fieldmedic from Dark Age Posted by Hello
One of my favourite painters is AlexiZ and I liked her interpretation of the Dark Age Fieldmedic so much that I used the same colour scheme; the result is not nearly as good but still...

Back from France

made it home safely and brought back a lot of goodies :
mostly Confrontation minis, the 2005 catalogue and Cry Havoc 1-3-5;
also received a small order of Hasslefree miniatures
some more RTV 181 silicone
and for the first time a large sheet of insulation foam that I cut up in 5 pieces and carried with me on the plane...
no pictures yet but I'll try to get some "work" done this weekend.

Walls with hieroglyphs to be placed between columns Posted by Hello

An Egyptian diorama... Posted by Hello

My friend Scott has commissioned a special diorama piece (very expensive...) for his Lara Croft miniature from Hasslefree.
These are the cracked floor tiles in the painting phase : as you can see, 2 rows of tiles have been glued and painted, the middle tiles are to remain loose in order to place miniatures on them and to change positions.
The painting is almost finished...guess why some tiles are only half painted !

I made a third mould with 2 halves of an egyptian column. Posted by Hello

Since the silicone cured too quickly, the top was not level so I had to make a custom top out of plaster to use as a bottom for the final mould (smart, huh ?)

2 moulds in action Posted by Hello
the top mould has 2 special tiles (lion & dragon) + 8 skull markers, a barrel and atreasure chest
the bottom mould has 4 tiles (dragon + 3 textured tiles with skulls), 1 bones marker and a round base

curing mould Posted by Hello

creating a mould

ok, now let us start this blog with a new project.

I had picked up some silicone RTV 181 at Esprit Composite in Paris last february and decided to give it a try.
I made my last moulds in the US years ago using 1 to 1 silicone from Oomoo but could not find a similar product in France.
RTV 181 comes wth a catalyst that has to be aded by weight (2 to 5%). Of course I have no scale for small quantities like that so I measure by the eye...
The first 2 trials were disasters : not enough catalyst and the moulds would not cure !
The 3rd test was OK even if I added too much catalyst resulting in ultra fast curing trapping in too many bubbles.
